It always amazes me how protective people are of the food they purchase even before they own it.  What I’m talking about is the dividers hat are available to put between your items and either the person in front of behind.

I quite often do small shopping trips and so only need a basket.  When I get to the checkout I just put the whole basket on the conveyor belt leaving all my items inside.  I never bother with the divider as all my items are contained safely within the basket but without fail, either the person in front or behind will place a divider between their items and my basket….What for?  Its not like they own the food but yet they are so possessive they have to make doubly sure that nothing in my basket doesn’t jump out and mingle with their purchases….cannot figure this one out.

You should try it as a social experiment next time you are at the supermarket.  Just buy one item and put it on the conveyor belt and see what happens.
